Mrs. Margret Crum, Life Resident Of Beard, Passes Away
Mrs. Margret Luella Crum, 73, lifelong resident of the Beard community, died at her home in Beard yesterday afternoon at 3:25 o’clock. Complications, from which she had suffered over a period of ten years, caused her death.
Mrs. Crum was born at Beard, February 7, 1867. Her parents were John A. and Nancy J. Thompson, pioneers of the Beard community. On December 31, 1885 she was united in marriage with Christopher J. Crum. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1920.
Survivors are five children, Mrs. Maynard Nolan, Mrs. Owen Record, Melvin Crum, Willard Crum and Mrs. Lonnie Vanmeter; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Sharp of Michigantown. A brother preceded her in death.
On January 25, 1910, under the pastorate of Rev. J. C. McCaslin, Mrs. Crum united with the Hopewell Methodist Protestant church and remained a faithful member until her death. She spent her entire life within sight of her birthplace. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal neighbor and friend and was held in the highest esteem by all fortunate to be numbered among her acquaintances.
In addition to her church affiliation, Mrs. Crum held membership in the Order Eastern Star of Beard.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hopewell church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
The body will be removed from the Goodwin funeral home to the family residence, where friends may call after 2 o’clock Thursday.
